CALL TO ORDER:

The meeting was called to order at 6:06 p.m. by the Board President, Mr. Garland.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: (I)

PUBLIC COMMUNICATION TO THE BOARD : (II-A)
|
Mary-Jon MacAvoy announced that a special election was held to fill the offices of President-elect for the current year and Vice President. Cathy Lichodziejewski, math teacher at Fountain Valley High School was named President-elect, and Susan Ballard, science teacher at Edison High School is Vice President.

CONSENT CALENDAR: (III) |
It was moved by Ms Castrey, seconded by Mrs. Henry, to approve the Consent Calendar as presented.
Motion unanimously carried.

|
REJECTION OF BID NO. 983: (III-A) |
Approval was granted to reject Bid No. 983 for Huntington Beach High School New Classroom Building W in accordance with Paragraph 12 of the Information for Bidders.
|
|
|
|
CONTRACT CHANGE NOTICES: (III-B)
|
Approval was granted for the change notices to the contracts as presented which were previously awarded.

|
NEW BUSINESS: (IV)
|
Ms Castrey thanked staff for following up on the sexual harassment issue. She will follow up with CSBA because they are telling her that Board members need this training. Dr. Simons suggested that this course can be taken on line through CSBA.
Dr. Simons thanked staff for the Open House and offered congratulations to Lauren Teng and her Food Services staff. The food was excellent, the building looked great, and everyone did a great job.
Dr. Simons discussed the bids, specifically relating to the Fountain Valley gymnasium and the impact of having three gyms down next summer if the work is not complete on time. Dr. Riley assured the Board that this had been an unusual circumstance and the problems had been site-specific.
Mr. Garland expressed thanks for the fine Open House this evening, and indicated that a powerful group of people had attended who had made so many contributions to this district in the past.

The Board recessed to closed session at 6:14 p.m. to consider Public Employee Performance Evaluation: Superintendent - Government Code section 54957 – Evaluation and Contract.
