Measure C, passed by voters in Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach and Westminster last March, is a bond measure that provides much needed funds to improve the conditions at the District’s six high schools, the continuation high school, alternative high school and adult school. “We are pleased with the quality of people interested in serving on this important committee,” said Van Riley, Ph.D., Superintendent of the high school district. “The Board has selected a team of dedicated men and women, all of whom have impressive records of community service and professional experience that will complement our construction team.” The Oversight Committee will work with staff, the construction manager, and architects. Their task will be to review the progress of the 5-year construction plan. The construction plan was created after a seven month Facilities Needs Assessment conducted in 2003 and was included as language in the bond measure. The much needed construction will replace and enhance outdated fire alarm systems, electrical systems, lighting, plumbing, drains, sewers and other utility systems. It includes seismic upgrades and the removal of hazardous material. Sinking buildings will be stabilized and repaired. The plan includes a lengthy list of improvements that, until now, the district has been unable to afford to do. |
