10/15/2009 3:35 PM: The service outage previously scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled.

10/13/2009 12:05 PM: Click here for a notice about a Saturday morning service outage...

10/12/2009 2:30 PM: The report connected to the Print button on the Class Marks screen is now operational.

10/08/2009 1:15 PM: The "My Attendance ONLY!" checkbox problem reported below on 9/30/09 has been fixed. A problem reported yesterday afternoon with the Unverified section of the Teacher Verification report was fixed around 8:30 am today.

10/06/2009 9:10 AM: The report connected to the Print button on the Class Marks screen is not operational. Simply use the browser print function to print that web page until we get the report fixed.

09/30/2009 4:35 PM: If you want to view attendance for other classes in the Student Attendance screen, change your "Default to My Attendance ONLY" option setting to NO.  The "My Attendance ONLY!" checkbox on the student attendance screen is not operating correctly and will not override the option setting.

09/30/2009 2:25 PM: The 4.5 week grade window has been opened. Please report any SB2000 Classroom grading problems immediately to ishelp@hbuhsd.org.

Special Education Teachers:  The Case Carrier feature has been repaired.  Please report any issues with that to ishelp@hbuhsd.org.  To use it, point to the Students menu item and click on Case Carrier to display a list of the students for whom you are the Case Carrier, but not their teacher.  The students in your sections can be displayed via the My Students screen.

09/16/2009 2:20 PM: Parent / Student Portal accounts for new teachers have now been activated.

09/11/2009 8:20 AM: The Weekly Attendance Verification report may not include teachers who work at two or more locations. They will have to print that report themselves from within SB2000 Classroom.

Remember, if you don't want, or would rather print yourself, the daily attendance Teacher Verification report, use the Manage/Options screen to tell the system you will print it. The daily report is optional. The weekly report is required for ADA audit purposes.

09/4/2009 9:05 AM: The daily attendance Teacher Verification report was fixed last night. It now should show add and drops to your classes as well as all absence code changes.

09/2/2009 10:45 AM: The default date issue mentioned in the previous item has been resolved. You should have the proper default date the next time you log onto SB2000 Classroom.  We will run the conversion later today.

09/2/2009 10:10 AM: Unfortunately, the system is defaulting to Sept 3rd today instead of Sept 2nd.  Teachers need to change the date before entering attendance.  We will automatically convert classroom absences and classroom tardies that were entered as 9/3/09 to 9/2/09.  We will do this at the end of the day.  The default date should be fixed by tomorrow morning.

08/28/2009 8:05 AM: The Weekly Attendance Verification report is operational now.

08/27/2009 10:40  AM: The logon links above will be made live later today for the 2009-10 school year.  2009-10 data is available now in the training database. The data in the training database will be replaced later this afternoon or overnight after WHS locks in their schedules. The WHS lockin is planned for later today.  Any changes you make to the training database before we replace it will be lost.  We are still working to finish up the three reports so they will work with the new database structure.

07/29/2009 3:15 PM: Data for the 2009-10 school year will not be available until late August. 2008-09 and Summer 2009 data will still be available until then.  Although a new version of SB2000 is being implemented in August, no visible changes for SB2000 Classroom are scheduled before school opens.  Behind-the-scene changes will be made to the SB2000 Classroom program so it will work with the new database structure.

06/22/2009 10:50 AM: Summer session is now available in SB2000 Classroom for teachers to use if they wish or are able.  Attendance and grade scanner sheets are the primary means for summer attendance taking and grade entering, however, online entry via SB2000 Classroom is available as an alternate.  SB2000 Classroom is not the primary means of entry during summer session due to computer and network logon issues resulting from many teachers not being in their regular classrooms.  The Parent/Student portal will not be used for this year's summer session. Even under normal circumstances it is not used for summer school.  The primary reason is reduced access to computers for summer school teachers.  Make sure to change the SITE login parameter when logging into the summer school database.

06/18/2009 01:10 PM: There was a problem that may have prevented you from importing grades from Easy Grade Pro into ECS last night or early this morning.  The problem was fixed at 8:15 this morning.  The problem was caused by an anomaly with the automated backup of the server last night.  So, if you had trouble importing grades into ECS early this morning or last night, please try it again now.  The online grade window will close on Friday, June 19 at 4PM.

06/15/2009 09:25 AM: The Parent/Student portal will not be used for the summer session. Even under normal circumstances it is not used for summer school.  The primary reason is reduced access to computers for summer school teachers.

06/12/2009 04:10 PM: There was a problem today that prevented you from importing grades from Easy Grade Pro into ECS.  It was fixed shortly after it was reported to Information Services early this afternoon.  The problem only occurred on the last day of school, today.  The program was changed to allow imports after today while the online grade window is open.

So if you had trouble importing grades into ECS earlier today, please try it again now.

05/01/2009 08:00 AM: The online grade entry window for the 12 week progress reports will close at 4:00 PM today.

04/27/2009 12:30 PM: A virus hit the ECS web pages late last Thursday 4/23. Slowly we've been able to clean it up and restore all ECS functionality.  The uploading of student grades from Easy Grade was the last to be restored and was fully functional as of 11:30 am today.  If you had problems uploading grades in the past couple of days, please try again.  If you still have problems after that, contact the I.S. HelpDesk at #52.

04/2/2009 2:50 PM:   The window for entering 9 week grades online will close at 4PM on Friday April 3rd.

03/30/2009 4:35 PM:   Viewing grade marks for a previous grade marking period (other than the currently open grade entry posting window) will be easier if you update the Default Marking Period in your options, setting it to the previous marking period.  Then use the Class/Marks menu items which work in conjunction with your option settings.  Clicking on the "red arrow" shortcut (seen below in the 3/17/09 news item) will always take you to the current marking period waiting for grade mark entries, regardless of your option settings.  Clicking on the section number in the Class List column on the Home page will not view grades, only the Class List summary.

03/26/2009 4:15 PM:   The instructions for Online Grade Marks Entry and  the Import Marks Task have been updated to reflect the new shortcut mentioned in the 3/17/09 news item below.

03/26/2009 9:30 AM:   The window for entering 9 week grades online will open tomorrow morning. The last day of the 3rd quarter is 3/27/09.

03/22/2009 7:30 PM:   SB2000 CLASSROOM – VERSION 2 - is now the only version available.  All links above have been changed to take you to its log in page. Use one of the two LIVE data links above.
Note: For technical reasons the online version of the Teacher Verification report has been split into two new  reports; Teacher Verified Absences and Teacher Adds & Drops.

03/17/2009 3:17 PM:   SB2000 CLASSROOM – VERSION 2 - An update was applied to version 2 in the LIVE and TRAINING areas this weekend for you to use and train with.  The training data base has the 4.5 week grade entry window open so you can see the new shortcut to entering grades online that will be available in version 2 (see below).

When a grading period is open, the reminder above will show automatically on the Home page. You'll simply click on the blue grading period displayed to go directly to the grade entry screen for the sections in that grading period.

03/13/2009 11:15 AM:   SB2000 CLASSROOM – VERSION 2 - We're going to delay the mandatory move to version 2 until next Friday, March 21st, due to the need to fix a couple of foibles that have been reported by MAC Safari users.  The links above will remain the same through next week, however, we will load a new version of version 2 in over the weekend that hopefully will address the reported problems.  Please check for more bulletins here on Monday and throughout next week.

03/4/2009 3:35 PM:   SB2000 CLASSROOM – VERSION 2 - A major new version of SB2000 Classroom is now available for teachers to use.  Both the old version and the new may be used until March 14th. On March 15, 2009, only the new version will be available.  Notice changes to the links above indicating how to access the different versions.

The new version can be used from any computer connected to the Internet; it’s not restricted to computers located within the district.  Version 2.0 is the foundation for the future incorporation of ECS functionality into SB2000 Classroom.  However, those new features are still under development and won’t be released until later in 2009.  For now, the same functionality in the old version can be found in the new version.  You will be notified as new functions come on line but prior to March 15th we simply need you to handle the switchover of the old functions with of the new look.  Menu items for future enhancements are not operational at this point.  Help is available for version 2!

03/3/2009 10:15 AM:  We received reports this morning around 9:30 am that some schools could not enter grades from the class list in the new version of SB2000 Classroom.  That problem has been fixed.  They were able to import grades from Easy Grade Pro but couldn't bring up the Class List form in edit mode to add comments or adjust grades.

02/24/2009 9:45 AM:  The online grade posting window for the 2nd semester 4.5 week grading period will be opened Wednesday, February 25, and closed at 4 PM on Wednesday, March 4.  Scanner sheets will be produced for all in case some want to use them.

As a side note, if you log into Version 2 of SB2000 Classroom for the first time and do not see your sections listed, here's the fix for that anomaly.  Point to the Manage menu item and then click on Options. Then click on the Save Options button to save your options.  We've discovered that this glitch happens for teachers who have never saved their options in the previous version of SB2000 Classroom.

Also, Classified staff must still use version 1 until we get their log in accounts operational in version 2.

02/11/2009 9:40 AM:  The training databases can now be accessed using version 2 of SB2000 Classroom.

02/5/2009 8:00 AM:  For those of you importing grades from Easy Grade Pro into ECS so they may be viewed on the Parent/Student Portal, please be sure to import them into 2nd semester sections.

01/30/2009 1:55 PM:  Changes were made to version 2 late Wednesday to address sluggishness experienced by Safari users, so you MAC users may want to give it another try if you were put off by the speed.

01/30/2009 10:55 AM:  Instructions for version 2 grade functions can be found on the Help Screen.

01/30/2009 8:50 AM:  When entering grades for 1st semester classes, remember to adjust which sections you can see on the My Sections screen.  There are two ways to do that; the best being to change the date to Jan 23 so only 1st semester and 2nd quarter classes will be displayed.  The other way is to uncheck the box labeled Current Sections found next to the calendar.  Change the date back to today's date when you need to take attendance in 2nd semester classes.

01/28/2009 2:00 PM:  Reminder: the quickest way to start taking attendance is by clicking on the period number to the right of the "Period Attendance:" label above the list of your sections.

When you click on the period number, all sections for that period that meet the day you selected in the calendar parameter (default being "today") will be displayed for you to take attendance.  The period number turns green after you submit attendance for that period.  Students will be displayed according to the choice you made in the Sort Attendance By option.

01/27/2009 2:50 PM:  About the sections that appear in the My Sections (version 1) or Home (version 2) screens - we were experimenting with some ways to make that list smarter at certain times of the year so you may have noticed those screens acting differently over the last few days.  We had to abandon that attempt for now but will revisit it in late March.  We're trying to get the sections to automatically display for which you need to take attendance plus the sections for prior grading periods for which you need to enter grades.  We want the latter to display only while the online grade posting window is open.  This way you won't have to remember to uncheck the Current Sections to change the list and you won't see real old quarters either.

01/27/2009 8:35 AM:  An update was made to the version 2 program last night which has fixed the Import [Grade] Marks function. Here's an updated chart to help navigate the new version.  A couple menu item names were changed back to match their names in the previous version (Class Roster was changed back to Class List and Import Grades was changed back to Import Marks).  Clicking on the period number to the right of the "Period Attendance:" label is the quickest way to take attendance for 2nd semester classes during this time period.

1/26/2009 8:25 AM:  The security certificate issue mentioned in previous announcements (1/20 & 1/23) was resolved last night.  Therefore, we now have posted a single link above which will get you to the new version from any location at home or school.

01/23/2009 12:35 PM:  Additional notes for the transition to version 2.0:

Don't use the Import Grades [Marks] task in v2.0 until further notice.

On the Home page (used to be My Sections)…
+ Ignore the Grade Form column for now. It’s a new feature coming soon to allow you to control the printing of your grade scanner sheets.

+ The old Print Scan column is now called Attend Form but is still used to control the production of Manual Attendance Sheets used by substitutes, some coaches and teachers with broken computers.

+ The old Current Sections check box and calendar has been replaced by the “Only view classes…” function that we hope will be more intuitive for you to control which of your sections are displayed on the Home page.

+ The only clickable menu items across the top are Home, Log Out and the Help ?.  Simply point to (or hover over) the other items across the top and then click on a submenu item when it appears.

You can bounce back and forth between the two versions but don't be logged into both at the same time.

Here's a chart to help navigate the new version. (chart updated 11:30 am on 1/26/09)

Remember when using it from home, you should ignore a security certificate warning that may appear and continue or proceed to the new website (This should not be an issue after 1/25/09)

01/22/2009 10:30 AM:  The online grade posting window for the 1st semester will be open Friday, January 23, and close at 4 PM on Monday, February 2.  Scanner sheets will be produced for all in case some want to use them.  Please note the announcement below if you haven't already seen it. The new feature to control the printing of grade scanner sheets is not yet operational.

Here's a chart to help navigate the new version.

01/20/2009 1:35 PM:  SB2000 CLASSROOM – VERSION 2 - A major new version of SB2000 Classroom is now available for teachers to use.  Both the old version and the new may be used until March 14th. On March 15, 2009, only the new version will be available.  Notice changes to the links above indicating how to access the different versions.

You should ignore a security certificate warning that may appear and continue to the new website (This should not be an issue after 1/25/09).

2.0 Help Pages will be available the beginning of next week as well as access to the new version for non-instructional staff.  The training database will also be converted to use the new version of SB2000 Classroom next week.

11/20/2008 9:30 AM:  Reminder, comment 18 will be added automatically to every student's progress record where a teacher marks a grade of D or F.  These comments will be added before the progress reports are mailed so you won't see them in SB2000 or SB2000 Classroom immediately.  This practice will be followed for all future 12 week reports, and only for the 12 week reports.

11/13/2008 11:35 AM:  The online grade posting window for the 12 week period will be open Friday, November 14, and close at 4 PM on Friday, November 21.  Grades will be handled in the same manner as last year.  Scanner sheets will be produced for all in case some want to use them.

10/21/2008 1:30 PM:  The online grade posting window for the 9 week period will be open Friday, October 24, and close at 4 PM on Friday, October 31.  Grades will be handled in the same manner as last year.  Scanner sheets will be produced for all in case some want to use them.  This is the same version of SB2000 Classroom used last year, therefore, grades must be entered from a computer within the district. The new version, now scheduled for release later this year, will allow entry from home computers.

9/25/2008 1:35 PM:  The online grade posting window for the 4.5 week period will be open Friday, September 26 and close at 4 PM on Friday, October 3.

8/25/2008 9:45 AM - Here are the links to the new version of SB2000 Classroom that won't be available until later this year. It's connected to 07-08 data if you wish to play around with it. It will be changing as continue to work on it.

Click here to login from outside the district.
Home Access!
Click here to login from within the district.
1/15/2009 Note: The links above were disabled today prior to the new version going live.

8/17/2008 10:00 PM - The SB2000 2008-09 databases are live now.  A copy of the 2008-09 data has been loaded into the training section for all teachers to use in training exercises. The old version of SB2000 will be used to start out the 08-09 school year.  Change the calendar to Aug 27 to view your sections.

8/15/2008 11:40 AM - The SB2000 databases will not be available this weekend as planned while we run the promotion procedure and create the 2008-09 databases. Unfortunately, the new version of SB2000 we hoped to install at the same time is not quite ready. In order to ensure the smoothest school opening, we will delay the new version of SB2000 until later this fall.

This also means the new version of SB2000 Classroom will be delayed as well. On Monday, Aug.18th, the LIVE DATA! and TRAINING DATA! links above will be changed to give you access to the 2008-09 databases using the same version of SB2000 Classroom as last year.  That way new teachers will be able to use the system to train for the opening of school. Unfortunately, the ability to access the program from home is tied to the new version so that feature must be delayed as well.

Around September 10th, we will alter the TRAINING DATA! link above to give you access once more to the new version under development for release later this fall. The new version of the SB2000 Classroom program was pretty much ready to go, but the more complex SB2000 was where we hit the snag. They both have to ready before we can perform the changeover.

8/13/2008 11:26 AM - Updates were installed this morning.  V2.0 is available in the training section above.

7/30/2008 2:20  PM -  A new version of SB2000 Classroom will be used this fall. This was first announced here on June 2.  The new version will be available on your home computer!  You may wish to access the training version before school starts.  To do so, look for further instructions in the TRAINING DATA! area directly above, but first read this announcement!

7/23/2008 12:50  PM -  The online grade posting window for the summer final grades and the 2nd session intensive health classes will be open July 21 and close at 4 PM on Friday, July 25. Grade scanner sheets are due to be turned in after school on Friday, July 25.

7/1/2008 1:00  PM -  The online grade posting window for the summer progress reports and first session intensive health classes will be open July 3 and close at 4 PM on Monday, July 11. Grade scanner sheets, should you choose to use them, will be delivered to teachers Monday morning, July 7.

6/6/2008 2:00  PM -  The online grade posting window for the 2nd semester will be open June 9 and close at 4 PM on Monday, June 23.  It's opening before the last day of school primarily so senior grades can be entered earlier.

6/4/2008 4:05  PM -  Here's a chart showing where to find the features on the tabs in version 1 of SB2000 Classroom versus the menu items in version 2 coming this fall.

6/2/2008 2:30  PM -  In the next day or so the Training Data! link above will be altered to give you access to the new 2.0 version of SB2000 Classroom currently under development.  This version should be available for use in the fall with the same features of the current version of SB2000 Classroom.  We're still working on replicating the existing functionality so consider it a work in progress as you explore it.  It may change from day to day so check back here for updates.

Later, throughout the 2008-09 school year we will be adding additional functionality scheduled for debut the following year.  The changes to the basic system are required in order to add additional functionality down the road. The most significant changes on the drawing board are to embed ECS features into SB2000 Classroom and to provide you with some limited grade book function. The goal is to make it as easy as possible for teachers to use the technology necessary to make use of the Parent / Student Portal.

4/24/2008 9:53  PM -  The online grade posting window for the 2nd semester 12 week period  will be open Friday, April 25,  and close at 4 PM on Monday, May 5.   Scanner sheets will be produced for all in case some want to use them.  By the request of district administration, comment 18 will be added automatically to every student's progress record where a teacher marks a grade of D or F.  These comments will be added before the progress reports are mailed so you won't see them in SB2000 or SB2000 Classroom immediately.  This practice will be followed for all future 12 week reports, and only for the 12 week reports.

4/18/2008 9:10  AM -  Just a reminder to some that the Reports Function was added to SB2000 Classroom in May 2006 giving you the ability to produce your own attendance verification reports if you wish. There is also a report that displays all your grades (Class Marks Summary) in selected sections.

4/11/2008 11:45  AM - We've had one report about an online grade entry problem in SB2000 Classroom.  When clicking on the Save Grades button, the program returns to the login screen without saving grades.  If this has happened to you please call #52 to report it.

4/11/2008 11:45  AM - Westminster High School's fiber line took longer to repair than Verizon planned but service was restored this morning around 8:40 AM.

4/10/2008 10:45  AM - Westminster High School's fiber line to the district office will be down from 3pm to 6pm today for emergency repair by Verizon. Sorry for the short notice, but all web services and SB2000 will be unavailable at that time.

4/2/2008 9:25 AM:  The online grade posting window for the 2nd semester 9 week period (3rd quarter) will be open Friday, April 4,  and close at 4 PM on Monday, April 14.   Scanner sheets will be produced for all in case some want to use them.

3/4/2008 1:40 PM:  Two attendance codes have been added to the system recently.  They are Religious/Excused and Ent Industry/Excused. The latter will be used rarely but is helpful to meet an Ed Code requirement to track absences due to student work in the Entertainment Industry.

2/25/2008 11:38 AM:  The online grade posting window for the 2nd semester 4.5 week period will be open Wednesday, February 27  and close at 4 PM on Thursday, March 6.  Grades will be handled in the same manner as last year.  Scanner sheets will be produced for all in case some want to use them.

1/23/2008 04:15 PM:  The online grade posting window for the semester grading period will be open Friday, January 25, and close at 4 PM on Tuesday, February 5.  Grades will be handled in the same manner as last year.  Scanner sheets will be produced for all in case some want to use them. Remember to refer to the instructions for online grade entry and don't forget to change the calendar or uncheck the Current Sections box so you can view sections after those sections have ended.

12/14/2007 10:45 AM:  Nevermind yesterday's notice! The security certificate was renewed in time before it expired. No action is required on your part.

12/13/2007 04:57 PM:  The primary logon server for EHS, FVHS, OVHS and VVHS will have it's SSL Certificate expire on Friday, 12/14/2007. An additional dialog box will appear and inform you of this during the logon process. You can continue by clicking 'Yes' and take attendance as usual or you may use the other login server (the primary logon server for EHS, FVHS, OVHS and VVHS.) We expect to have this issue resolved soon. See Security Alert dialog box under 12/07/2007.

12/10/2007 12:50 PM:  The security certificate issue has been resolved and no action is needed on your part.

12/07/2007 04:30 PM:  The primary logon server for HBHS, MHS, WHS, CDS will have it's SSL Certificate expire on Monday, 12/10/2007. An additional dialog box will appear and inform you of this during the logon process. You can continue by clicking 'Yes' and take attendance as usual or you may use the other login server (the primary logon server for FVHS, EHS, CHS and VVHS.) We expect to have this issue resolved before noon on Monday.

11/15/2007 04:15 PM:  The online grade posting window for the 12 week grading period will be open Friday, November 16 and close at 4 PM on Monday, December 3.  Grades will be handled in the same manner as last year.  Scanner sheets will be produced for all in case some want to use them.

11/07/2007 3:05 PM:  The Class Marks Summary report is working again.  This is the report in the Class Lists sections of the Reports tab that lets you print out all the grades for each section in any selected grading period.

10/24/2007 10:05 AM:  The online grade posting window for the 9 week grading period will be open Friday, October 26 and close at 4 PM on Monday, November 5.  Grades will be handled in the same manner as last year.  Scanner sheets will be produced for all in case some want to use them.

Don't be afraid to click on the HELP link above!

There is still some confusion out there with Easy Grade Pro (EGP) users.  Many teachers have been importing their grades throughout the semester from EGP into the ECS system which makes them available to students and parents on the Parent / Student Portal.  That does not make them available to SB2000 Classroom.  To do that you must initiate the new Import Marks Activity which only takes a few minutes.  This activity is what you will do eight times per year instead of bubbling scanners or manually entering the grades into the Class List.  You must initiate this import process; it's not automatic.

9/21/2007 8:05 AM:  The online grade posting window for the 4.5 week period will be open Friday, September 28 and close at 4 PM on Monday, October 8.  Grades will be handled in the same manner as last year.  Scanner sheets will be produced for all in case some want to use them.

8/24/2007 3:05 PM: Be sure you don't logon to the SUMMER databases if you want your fall schedules.  Example: the HBHS fall 2007-08 database is labeled "HBHS".  The HBHS 2007 Summer database is labeled "HBHS_Summer".  The logon screen will always "remember" the last one picked so only teachers who taught summer school and used online attendance should have to be extra careful.

8/20/2007 10:00 PM: The 2007-08 databases are online in SB2000CR.  And also in Training.

8/11/2007 9:36 PM: Check out this new  Attendance Overview.

7/17/2007 3:25 PM: The online grade entry window for CDS and VVHS will be open from 7/17 thru 7/20.
The online grade entry window for all other schools will be open from 7/23 thru 7/27.

SB2000 databases will be unavailable July 31st while we create the 2007-08 databases.

7/17/2007 10:25 AM: Reminder, summer school attendance may be taken with SB2000 Classroom or the weekly scanner sheets.  If you choose to take it online we will be sending weekly verification forms for you to sign and return to the office.  Scanner sheets will be provided for all teachers and should be turned in at the end of the week.  Please sign the scanner sheets if you're using them for attendance.  You may also use SB2000 Classroom for online grade entry in lieu of scanner sheets.

To access the Summer School database you must select the appropriate school
in the Log On To: parameter on the logon screen.

ECS and the Student/Parent Portal will not be available for this year's Summer School.

7/5/2007 4:45 PM:  The summer databases are back online and the grade entry window will be open from 7/9/2007 through 4 PM on  7/13/2007.

7/5/2007 4:05 PM: We've had to take the summer databases offline to work on the setup for online grade entry.  We'll get them back online as soon as we can.

7/5/2007 10:30 AM: SB2000 Classroom will be available for online grade entry in summer school, however, you will not be able to import your grades into SB2000 Classroom from Easy Grade Pro since the Parent/Student Portal is not active for summer school.  If you need help accessing SB2000 Classroom from your summer school classroom, please contact the local Network Technician at X 4635.

6/29/2007 3:00 PM: Starting July 2, summer school attendance may be taken with SB2000 Classroom or the weekly scanner sheets.  If you choose to take it online we will be sending weekly verification forms for you to sign and return to the office.  Scanner sheets will be provided for all teachers and should be turned in at the end of the week.  Please sign the scanner sheets if you're using them for attendance.

6/22/2007 9:00 AM: Summer School classes will be available in SB2000 Classroom by Monday so you can download your class rosters, however, you may want to wait until Wednesday after enrollments settle down.  Do NOT take attendance with SB2000 Classroom the first week of Summer School.  You must use the attendance scanner sheets provided for the first week of school.

To access the Summer School database you must select the appropriate school
in the Log On To: parameter on the logon screen.

ECS and the Student/Parent Portal will not be available for this year's Summer School.

More info about Summer School and SB2000 Classroom will follow so check here daily for updates.

5/30/2007 10:10 AM: The online grade posting window for the 2nd semester will be open June 5 and close at 4 PM on Monday, June 25.

5/23/2007 11:10 AM:
Here's a reminder about how to use the Reports Function that was added to SB2000 Classroom last May.

4/27/2007 8:45 AM: The online grade posting window for the 12 week period has just been opened and will remain open until Tuesday May 8 at 4pm.

4/16/2007 9:05 AM:  The online grades posting window for the 2nd semester nine week grading period has been extended through 4pm on April 16.

4/10/2007 10:20 AM:  On April 14th the links to SB2000 Classroom will be redirected to secure servers to make our data more secure as it travels over the network.  The first time you encounter the new server your staff Id used at login will be blank.  Please make note of it before the 14th to ensure a quick log in the morning of April 16.  Your school name will also have to be reset at the first log in.

If your web browser is not configured in the standard manner you may also be queried about a security certificate.  Simply click on the Yes or Accept button to proceed to the login screen.  If this query is presented at every new browser session, you will need to view and install the security certificate.  Your Network Technician can help with this task if you have trouble.   It would be best to install your certificate, if needed, sometime before the 16th.  To help with that you can use these links to test how your computer will react to the new secure login links.  It's best to setup the certificate on both servers since one is used to backup the other.  Server 1    Server 2  If you can click on these links and it takes you directly to the log in screen, you're good to go!

4/10/2007 8:15 AM:  Remember to uncheck the Current Sections box on your My Sections screen so you'll be able to enter grades online for 3rd quarter classes.

3/28/2007 2:05 PM:  The online grades posting window for the 2nd semester nine week grading period will be open from 1 am on Mar 29 through 4pm on April 13.

3/27/2007 12:57 PM:  SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Encryption has been added to SB2000 Classroom servers.  This is an extra level of protection for web services that encrypts data as it goes across the network/intranet.  Most users will not notice a difference in the application with the exception of the SSL lock symbol in your browser and the URL has changed in the location bar.  If you are prompted to respond to a request for a "Certificate", please accept this in order to continue.   Also, the first time you encounter the new login page, you will have to reenter your Staff ID.

2/28/2007 1:55 PM:  Case Carriers have a new feature in SB2000 Classroom!  They can now view students for whom they are Case Carriers but do not have in their sections.  You'll find a Case Carrier check box on the My Students tab.  Normally, My Students is a list of students in all your sections. Click on the Case Carrier checkbox and then click the SEARCH button to display a list of your case students.  Then click on the student ID number to view the student's info.

2/26/2007 12:55 PM:  The online grades posting window for the 2nd semester 4.5 week grading period will be open from 1 am on Feb 28 through 4pm on March 8.

2/6/2007 8:40 PM:  The online grades posting window closed today at 5pm.  Please direct any grades changes to the registrar before the end of the day Wednesday.

2/6/2007 9:05 AM:  Scanner sheets were posted last night so the results for all grade marks entered so far can be viewed in your SB2000 Classroom Class List.  If you wish, use the new Student Marks Errors activity to display any grades that may be missing due to scanning or bubbling errors.  The deadline for changes made via the Class List is 5pm today.

2/5/2007 8:30 AM:  Processing of scanner sheets started Friday but they will not be posted until this afternoon or evening.  That's when they will be visible in the SB2000 Classroom Class List.  That's when you can, if you wish, use the new Student Marks Errors activity to display any grades that may be missing due to scanning or bubbling errors.  The Student Marks Errors activity can be used NOW by those who entered grades online to see if they may have missed any.  This activity should give a complete accounting of any missing grades you may have.  You may use the Class List to enter the missing ones or contact the registrar for the correction if you're using scanner sheets.  Questions you have about the new online grading procedures after reviewing the instructions should be directed to the Info Services HelpDesk at #52.  Remember to change the calendar on the My Sections screen to Jan 26th if you want to view 1st semester sections!

2/2/2007 11:25 AM:  Clarification: There are three ways* to submit your 1st semester final grades now;
1) submit your scanners as usual (when scanned they will appear in the SB2000 Classroom Class List),
2) manually enter them yourself  into the SB2000 Classroom Class List ,
3) import them into the SB2000 Classroom Class List via the new
Import Marks Activity.
Either way, the goal is to get them into the SB2000 Classroom Class List.  Once there you can view and/or edit them further if you desire.

There is some confusion out there with Easy Grade Pro (EGP) users.

* Your three-way decision can be made at the section level.

2/2/2007 7:45 AM:  Reminder - On 9/20/2005 a second server was added to increase performance and to provide an inline backup should one of the two servers go down.  For performance reasons we'd like schools to start using the servers as indicated above in the yellow box even though either of the two servers will work for any user.  Eventually as people are made aware of this new feature the load will be balanced over two servers.  If one day in the future you have trouble logging onto your regular server, try going to the other.  NOTE:  Your staff Id won't be remembered for your first login on the new server so you might want to make note of it first.

1/31/2007 12:10 PM:  The Credit Override field in the Class List online grade entry should only be used to deviate from the standard credits for a class.  That means you will most likely never need to use it.  P.E. and Aide classes are 2.5 credits by definition so you do not have to set the Credit Override to 2.5 for those classes.  The scanner sheet has worked the same way for years.  There's no need to indicate credits unless it deviates from the standard.

1/30/2007 5:25 PM:  The programming error was fixed and a new version of SB2000 Classroom has been installed and the Posting Window has been reopened.  We need teachers who have entered grades prior to this point to view their sections in Class List again and look for students with blank grades and repost those.  We are very sorry for this added work.   The Student Marks Errors activity also had a flaw which has been fixed but it will only display missing grades in sections that have had grades entered (by clicking the Save Grades button) since 5:15 PM today.

Please call the HelpDesk at #52 if you have any questions.

1/30/2007 4:15 PM:  We found the programming error and expect to have a new version available in the morning.  Check here again then, please.

1/30/2007 3:05 PM:  We've had some reported problems with the online grade entry feature so we felt it would be best to close the posting window while we figure it out.  That means you won't be able to enter the grades online at this time.  Please be patient and check here again in the morning for a status report.

1/30/2007 1:25 PM:  Here are the revised instructions for the new Import Marks and Student Marks Errors activities.  The Import Marks activity is used to import grade marks from ECS into SB2000 Classroom.  The Student Marks Errors activities can be used to search your sections for missing grade marks, regardless of their method of entry (scanner sheets, import or the new SB2000 Classroom entry).  P.S. Here's the link to the most recent online grade entry instructions.

1/29/2007 1:45 PM:  The new grading features are available in the SB2000 Classroom training data bases now.  The import feature copies data from the live ECS system but it's a read only link and it imports into the training data bases.

1/29/2007 10:35 AM:  The earlier mentioned import issue has been resolved.  Remember to change the calendar on the My Sections screen to Jan 26 before using the import feature or trying to enter grades via the class list.

1/29/2007 8:10 AM:  The instructions for the online grades should have included a reminder to change the calendar on the My Sections screen to the last day of the 1st semester so that those sections would be displayed!  8:40 AM:  A date issue was discovered with the import procedure that will be fixed before noon today.  If you refreshed your ECS grades from EGP after Jan 26, the date stamp is preventing SB2000 Classroom from importing them.

1/26/2007 11:20 AM:  Here are the preliminary instructions for importing grade marks from EGP/ECS into SB2000 Classroom.  If you plan to use the new Import Marks feature you must use it before entering grades via the new Class List grade mark entry feature.

1/26/2007 8:05 AM:  We are live with the new version! Don't be alarmed that the Posting Window ends today...that will be changed to Feb 6th later today.  We ran into a snag with the EGP/ECS import procedure and had to alter the date to make that operational.  Please report any online grading problems to the Info Services HelpDesk at #52.

1/25/2007 6:00 PM:  Here are updated instructions for the new online grades feature that we hope to have installed and ready to go Friday morning.  Instructions for the EGP/ECS import procedure will be available later Friday morning.  The import feature will be located on the  Activities tab.  There will also be an Activity function you can use to list the students in your sections that have not been given grade marks yet.

1/23/2007 3:45 PM:  We're putting the final touches on the new online grades feature.  Click here to view some preliminary instructions to help you get a feel for it.  We're still working on the feature to allow you to import letter grades from Easy Grade Pro (via ECS) but it's looking good in the test mode.  With a couple clicks you'll be able to load all the letter grades you placed in ECS from Easy Grade Pro directly into SB2000 Classroom.

1/19/2007 12:45 PM:  SAY GOODBYE TO GRADE SCANNER SHEETS?!  A new feature will become available at the end of the 1st semester in SB2000 Classroom that will allow you to enter grades online instead of using the standard Scantron grade scanner bubble sheets.  The new entry method is optional so we will also be printing and distributing the scanner sheets to all teachers.  It’s up to you if you want to use the new method and you can make that decision section by section.  If you wish you can enter grades for one section online and use scanner sheets for another.  You can even enter your grades via scanner sheets then view them and edit them online before we print report cards.  More information and detailed instructions will be posted here next week.  We also hope to have put the final touches on another new feature for you to use at the end of the semester; the ability to import your grades from Easy Grade Pro into SB2000 Classroom.

10/26/2006 12:45 PM:  At the request of some teachers, the gender code will be added to the green and white class record (roll sheets) beginning with the second quarter.  An "M" or "F" will now appear below the student name to the left of the existing program codes.  The indentation on that line will be preserved to enhance readability.

9/7/2006 12:45 PM:  At 4PM today, SB2000 Classroom will be taken offline and a new version will be installed.  That version will fix the two problems listed immediately below.  It will also alter the way to start reports and activities, thus avoiding some conflicts with popup blocker software.  Look for new tabs at the top labeled Reports and Activites to replace the purple line added in May with those links.  Note: After clicking the Activities tab, click on the word "Download Rosters" to start that activity.  It's designed that way so we can add more activities in the future.

9/7/2006 8:45 AM:  There's a problem with printing the Teacher Verification [daily] report from SB2000 Classroom so please refrain for now from doing that if you have been doing so.  If you change your options to indicate you will no longer print that report it will be printed for you by attendance staff and delivered to your mailbox on campus the next morning.  The weekly verification report is operating normally.

9/6/2006 3:30 PM:  We've just been informed that when you click on a section number to take attendance the program may display a different section.  Click on the period number instead of the section number to take attendance since that seems to work all the time.   We'll get the section link fixed ASAP.

8/16/2006:  2006-07 data bases are now online.  Your sections will show as "not meeting" any day until your school's bell schedule is entered into the system.  Many schools have not reported their bell schedules yet.

8/3/2006:  Don't forget that grade book roster data is no longer being stored on the district web server.  You may download up-to-date rosters any time you wish directly from SB2000 Classroom.  >>Grade Book Roster Download  This change was first announced in May, 2006.

5/9/2006 8:25 AM:  SB2000 CLASSROOM UPGRADE:  The new version will be installed this evening for use on May 10.  A bug was discovered (and fixed) in the third party software used to control the tabs.  If you want to save your current option settings you must, with your first use of the program on May 10, click on the OPTIONS tab and then click on the SAVE OPTIONS button.  If you fail to do this on your first use you may adjust your options at any time, but they will have reverted to the original default values.
Click here for detailed upgrade info!

5/3/2006 2:35 PM:  SB2000 CLASSROOM UPGRADE:  Sadly, we have to postpone the new version announced earlier this week.  Further testing uncovered some intermittent anomalies when using Internet Explorer, although the new program works fine in Safari, Mozilla and Netscape. Check back here daily for an update.

5/2/2006 11:55 AM:  SB2000 CLASSROOM UPGRADE:  Click here for detailed upgrade info!

5/1/2006 11:35 AM:  SB2000 CLASSROOM UPGRADE:  You will be logging on to a new version of SB2000 Classroom on the morning of May 4th.  This will give us a chance to field test a couple of major new features before extended use next fall.  We invite you to try out the new features (or you may ignore them if you like), however, there is one thing you SHOULD DO and it must be done during your very first use of the new system, but you only need to do it if you've changed your options from the default settings.  After logging on to SB2000 Classroom for the first time on May 4th, simply click on the OPTIONS tab, then click on the SAVE OPTIONS button.  This procedure will simply copy your option settings from the volatile cookie files on your hard disk into the data base.  If you don't do this one time process during your first session of the new version your options will be reset to the default values (which is not that big a deal anyway).  From then on your option settings will be retrieved from the data base so they don't disappear after deleting your cookie files (a common Internet housekeeping practice).  More information about the new features will be posted here before May 3rd.

3/9/2006 12:50 PM:  SB2000 Classroom and  SB2000 will be unavailable Saturday morning, 3/11/06, due to maintenance.

2/14/2006 8:05 AM:  OVHS's bell schedule was incorrectly set this morning but was fixed by 8am.

1/11/2006 10:05 AM/:  Does the change below dated 1/6/2006 affect you?  If you didn't submit attendance online earlier in the year for sections that are empty today, your name will continue to appear on an audit report.  Prior to this program change you had no way to go back in time and submit attendance for previous school days for sections that are empty TODAY.  Now you can by unchecking the Current Sections box above the calendar.  Once unchecked, you can change the calendar to the previous day in question, display the section in question and then submit attendance.  That will clear your name off the audit report.

1/6/2006 4:30 PM:   A change was made so that all sections, even those with zero students, will be displayed in the My Sections page when the Current Sections option is unchecked.  This was necessary so attendance could be marked on previous days in classes that currently had no students.  This problem of trying to take attendance after the fact in classes that no longer exist was primarily an issue with aide classes.

12/21/2005 8:50 AM:   EHS started the day with the wrong bell schedule pattern in SB2000 but it was changed by 8:30 AM so attendance can now be taken in the proper periods.

12/06/2005 8:15 AM:   FYI:  12 week progress report info is available for viewing in the Class List function.

12/01/2005 9:55 AM:   Login Problems? There was a fire in the district office computer room last night.  Click here for an update!

10/24/2005 4:15 PM:   A timing problem with the Possible Non-Reported Absence recorder has been fixed.  This problem allowed teachers marking students absent late via the Possible Non-Reported Absence sub-system to over-write an absence reason posted by an attendance clerk, such as health.  The program has been altered to prevent this from happening in the future and, since the records in question were all logged in the attendance history file, we'll be able to reverse the errors.  The first clue to this problem should have been displayed on the daily absence Teacher Verification report when "Health" or "Parent Request" absences were shown to be changed to "Classroom Absent".

Don't forget to submit every section when taking attendance even when all students are present!

10/21/2005 4:05 PM:    Please remember:  Last week's Weekly Attendance Verification forms must be signed and returned to your school's attendance office before the end of the day Tuesday.  These become part of the permanent audit trail and are kept on file at the school for four years.

Don't forget to submit every section when taking attendance even when all students are present!

10/05/2005 7:50 AM:    We had problems yesterday with the data base server housing  the MHS, HBHS and V.V.H.S. data bases.  The server had to be restarted a couple times which put it offline for about half an hour each time.  At 6:30 AM this morning the problematic server was replaced with a backup server.

Don't forget to submit every section when taking attendance even when all students are present!

9/20/2005 2:50 PM:

Today a second server has been added to increase performance and to provide an inline backup should one of the two servers go down.  For performance reasons we'd like schools to start using the servers as indicated above in the yellow box even though either of the two servers will work for any user.  Eventually as people are made aware of this new feature the load will be balanced over two servers.  If one day in the future you have trouble logging onto your regular server, try going to the other.  NOTE:  "Cookie" files are being used to store your saved options and logon information.  Each server uses it's own set of "cookie" files so when you switch to the new server your options will have to be set up again, but only once.  Therefore, before switching, you may wish to display your options tab and print the screen to help remember the settings.

9/16/2005 10:10 AM:    Today the REMINDERS section at the top of the MY SECTIONS page began to display possible non-reported absences.  Click on the number of the absences in question to display students who were marked absent by all of their other teachers except you.  Absences before 9/12/2005 will not be questioned but you must respond one way or the other to possible non-reported absences after 9/11/2005.

Don't forget to submit every section when taking attendance even when all students are present!

9/12/2005 11:30 AM:    The section info displayed on the blue header bar to the right of the word "Course:" defaults to the top section in your My Sections list.  It will change to any section you specifically select from your list of sections.  While viewing the Attendance and Class List tabs you can use the course list box as a shortcut to change sections by picking another section from the course list box (click on the down arrow to the right of the section displayed).   Note:  If you take attendance via the period number option, the section in the COURSE area can't be replaced (because there may be more than one section for that period) so it leaves what was in there. In this case, it may appear as if you're taking attendance in another section.  The section that really counts is the section number on the line with the student's name. The COURSE area is a shortcut provided at teacher's request so they don't have to go back to My Sections to change to another section.  It's an optional feature to be used when appropriate.  For example, it's the quickest way to check CAHSEE scores of all your students, section by section.

Don't forget to submit every section when taking attendance even when all students are present!

9/9/2005 5:40 PM:   OK, you caught us!  Someone out there noticed the student counts on the My Sections screen don't always match the names in the online attendance roster (yeah, it was a math teacher).  This usually happens when there's someone in that section attending for their last day.  To improve system performance we've elected not to tally all the classes every time the My Sections screen is displayed so we use stored counts on the My Sections screen.  The counts there always reflect the class count after the latest schedule changes...they don't always reflect the counts on the date you've selected in the calendar.  The important thing is that the names on the attendance taking screen are accurate and teacher and class maxes are being honored.  Soon, we will add counts to the Class List display that will reflect the enrollment count in that section on any given day in the year, as selected from the calendar on the My Sections screen. Incidentally, the student's beginning and ending dates in sections can be viewed on the Class List display.

Don't forget to submit every section when taking attendance even when all students are present!

9/8/2005 2:50 PM:   Whoops!  We had a little glitch yesterday when we sent out last year's daily attendance verification form that indicated the online audit section was still processed there.  We ARE moving to a new weekly verification form so please ignore that section of yesterday's report.  The sheets you received today had that online audit section removed.  Those forms are back to the way they were during 2003-04 with a minor exception.  We have removed the student number from the display and placed a suggestion at the bottom of the form to post the un-verified absence section of the report on the wall by your door and ask that students be responsible for checking to see if they having any unexpected absences that need to be cleared.  This was the original intent behind that section of the report.  This is an optional activity but can head off mistakes before they turn into truancies.

Don't forget to submit every section when taking attendance even when all students are present!

8/26/2005 10:00 AM:   Welcome to the 2005-06 school year!  The Print Scan flags for all sections except PE will be turned OFF this weekend (probably Aug 28).  From that point on teachers and master schedule builders are responsible for the print scan flag setting.  There will be no scanner sheets printed this year.  All teachers are expected to take attendance online.  Those who can't must follow local alternative procedures which may or may not include the use of Manual Attendance Sheets which have been used in the past by substitutes.  The production of Manual Attendance Sheets will be keyed to the Print Scan flag.  [Please substitute any references to scanner sheets with Manual Attendance Sheets in online attendance instructions.]

The Training data base will be refreshed this week with the 2005-06 rosters.  Since school starts Sept 6th, your sections will not display unless you change the date in the calendar to 9/6 or higher.  You could also uncheck the Current Sections box.

Don't forget to submit every section when taking attendance even when all students are present!

5/19/2005 4:15 PM:   The Print Scan problem mentioned immediately below was fixed at 4:00 PM today.

5/19/2005 2:35 PM:   It was just reported that the Print Scan control buttons are not working and lead to an application error message.  We'll get that fixed ASAP.  If you are trying to produce scanner sheets you'll have to contact your sub secretary to produce manual attendance sheets instead.

5/15/2005 2:40 PM:   A new version of SB2000 Classroom will be installed soon with several new features which will include:

1) the addition of program code notes to the CLASS LIST display (these are the same codes which appear on your green and white class record roll sheets)
2) the addition of Star Content results to the CLASS LIST display including an indicator showing how many points the student is above the lower threshold of his or her current status range and how many points below the score needed to move into the next higher status range
3) the addition of a filter to the CLASS LIST display to allow you to view current students only
4) the ability to filter the attendance on the STU INFO display so you can choose to view all absences for the student or only absences in your sections

This 5/15 article is a revision of a similar article posted on 5/13.

5/7/2005 12:35 PM:   The 2nd semester 12 week progress reports were scanned Friday night and can be viewed from your Class Lists.  Registrars will be given a day or so to cleanup some data before we start printing the mailers.

1/25/2005 2:55 PM:   New sections for 2nd semester!  Remember to click on Feb 1st in the calendar of the My Sections screen sometime between now and Friday night to turn off 2nd semester scanner sheet production (click the NO SCANS button). That'll be the first time dealing with 2nd semester sections.  All sections, when added to the master schedule, take on the default setting to print scanner sheets.  You have to click on NO SCANS before each quarter starts unless you want a scanner sheet printed.  You may have to repeat this process periodically  since new sections are entered all the time (especially for AIDE classes).

Need absence and tardy totals for the 1st semester?  You have them at your fingertips!  Simply click on the section number in the Class List column of the My Sections screen to display all the students in that section with their absence and tardy totals.  Then print the page as you would any other web page.

12/3/2004 8:45 AM:   If you're having trouble displaying a Class List to view grades for past classes remember to uncheck the Current Sections box above the calendar on the My Sections screen.  1st quarter classes in PE and for aides were completed Nov 5th so they are no longer current sections.  This tip will come in handy for all teachers after the 2nd semester starts.

11/9/2004 8:45 AM:   Don't forget to turn off the Print Scan flag if you're taking attendance online to reduce the waste of handling scanners that aren't really needed.  Simply click the NO SCANS button on the My Sections form.

Also, it has been reported that the program may "forget" your option settings on occasion.  We're looking into that.  The options settings are stored in browser "cookie" files so we know they will be reset to the default settings if you delete your cookie files or move to another computer.

10/21/2004 11:50 AM:   Our apologies to WHS teachers.  The bell schedule was programmed wrong in SB2000 so they started the day being asked to take attendance for even periods when it was really an odd day.  A teacher called the Help Desk line at #52, reported the problem and the bell schedule was fixed within minutes and WHS teachers could continue taking online attendance in the proper periods.  This brings up a good point (not to mention highlighting a benefit of online attendance taking versus scanner sheets which can't be corrected on the fly).  Clicking on the next day in the calendar from the My Sections screen is a very simple way to double check which periods SB2000 thinks will meet at your campus tomorrow. If you detect a problem, call it in or alert your local administration.

10/15/2004 7:25 AM:   4.5 week grades and comments are available via the CLASS LIST tab in SB2000 Classroom.  When viewing information for an individual student via the STU INFO tab, grades and comments from ALL the student's classes are displayed.  You may want to click the OPTIONS tab and set your Default Marking Period option to 4.5 weeks.

10/13/2004 1:15 PM:   This notice is about the grade scanner sheets for the 4.5 week grading period.  Information Services inadvertently misprinted comment one on the grade scanners.  It will be corrected for the next 9 week grading period.  If you bubbled comment one for any student for this 4.5 week period, your Registrar will contact you to ask you what you wanted to convey to the student by bubbling comment one.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

10/7/2004 8:45 AM:   OVHS teachers can try to take attendance online again. The link to the district office was just restored.  The cause was a defective surge suppressor on the main router connecting the school to the district office.

9/21/2004 8:45 AM:   Tonight we will start converting five day old unresolved absences to truancies (these are the absences labeled "Computer Truant"). Absences prior to 9/14 will not be converted and will no longer appear in the "Un-verified" section of your daily Teacher Verification report. This explains why you may start seeing Computer Truant changes in the "Verified Attendance" section on tomorrow morning's report for absences on 9/14.

9/17/2004 4:50 PM:   Possible Non-Reported Absence reporting will begin on Monday. Teachers will be asked to verify attendance for students in their classes who were marked absent on 9/14 by all other teachers except them.  The online version of this process will be displayed in the REMINDER area at the top of the MY SECTIONS screen. If your reminder area is blank that's a good thing!

Period numbers are now being sorted in the proper order on the STU INFO form (refer to yesterday's message below).

9/16/2004 5:10 PM:   A new version of the program was just installed and the new features are as follows:
1) The period numbers in My Sections are now sorted properly.
2) When looking at absences on the STU INFO tab we are now displaying ALL absences for the student. We neglected to sort them by period number within date but we'll get that fixed ASAP. We also plan to add an option so an individual teacher can decide whether or not to display absences in other classes (for those of you who don't want to see the student's absences in other teacher's classes).
3) CELDT test results have been added to the Class List display.
4) CAHSEE results are still on the Class List but you must select the subtest (math or English) as a separate, second step.

9/9/2004  4:15 PM:  Sections on the My Sections screen are being sorted by subterm instead of period number.  We're working on a fix to that so all sections are displayed in period number order regardless of subterm.  Nevertheless, if you click on the period number to take attendance, all sections for that period will be presented.

9/3/2004  4:15 PM:  If you get a "server error" message trying to log on, delete your cookies files and try again.  To delete your Internet Explorer cookies files, click on TOOLS, then INTERNET OPTIONS, then the DELETE COOKIES button, then OK, then OK again to exit.

Special note to Marina Teachers:  Your Class Record roll sheets were printed last night and the Period Ending date was left blank.  Please pencil in 11/05/2004 as the end of the 1st quarter.

9/2/2004  10:10 AM:  Don't forget to turn off scanner sheet production by clicking on the NO SCANS button on the My Sections screen.  We don't mind sending scanner sheets out for the first day of school so it's ok to  turn off the scanner production on Tuesday.

Also note that the online attendance file server was restarted over the summer.  After a server restart, the initial load of each individual SB2000 Classroom screen will be slower than subsequent visits to the same screen.  So don't be alarmed if things seem slow; they'll speed up after a little usage.

8/23/2004  11:10 AM: The 2004-05 rosters are available when you sign on the LIVE data bases.  You'll have to change the calendar to Sept. 7th before any sections will show.  The new version of the program has many new viewing features but the basic attendance functions are handled by using the "My Sections" and "Attendance" tabs.  The "Stu Info", "Assessment" and "Grades" tabs don't function until an individual student is placed in the header below the tabs by selecting a student from a "Class List" or "My Students".  Use the "Class List" function to display students when using the program before 9/7/04.
Updated instructions have been posted...as of 8/29/04

The TRAINING data bases still contain a copy of last year's data that can be "played with".
Hint:  Change the calendar to a school day in 2003-04.  Also-ignore the Schedule Report button on the options screen for now.  It's a new feature we're working on  that's not ready yet.

8/10/2004  11:00 AM: The 2004-05 rosters are not available just yet.  They will be put online between Aug 12 and Aug 18th.

6/23/2004  8:20 AM: The Print Scan flags are now operational!

6/22/2004  1:40 PM:  Online Attendance for Summer 2004!

By the way, the Print Scan flag doesn't control the weekly summer scanner sheets.  They will be sent whether the schools use them or not.

6/21/2004  2:50 PM:  Online Attendance for Summer 2004!

Use the LIVE link above for the summer school logon and be sure to select your school's summer data base from the "Log on to:" list.

6/4/2004  6:30 PM:  New version of SB2000 Classroom for Fall 2004!

You can get a sneak peek on the new version of SB2000 Classroom that will be going live this Fall by clicking on the Training link above.  All the data in the training data base was copied from the live data base as of Wednesday 6/2/2004.  Teachers now have access to assessments and grades of their students.  Continue to take attendance in the LIVE version of the program though this school year but feel free to roam around the new version connected to the training data base.  The new features you see today are just a start.  We want you to meet at your school to discuss ways to improve the dissemination of this information to the classroom teacher.  Meet with your local administrators so they can  funnel change  requests through Instructional Council.  What you see today is just the beginning!

Click here to read more about the new version...

4/15/2004  4:05 PM:

Also, if you ever delete your cookie files (that's what they call special files that "remember" things for you on the Internet) your staff identification code will be "forgotten" and you'll have to enter it again before SB2000 Classroom can "remember" it.

4/1/2004  1:05 PM:   Only five teachers district wide reported the need for browser upgrades to resolve the problem caused by yesterday's SB2000 Classroom upgrade.  That upgrade seems to have made all MAC computers running Internet Explorer fully functional.

3/31/2004  11:45 AM:   Three teachers have contacted us to report problems this morning with the new version.  They report that the program errors out when they hover the mouse over the menu bar from the attendance update screen.  It only seems to be happening for users with an old version of Internet Explorer, version 5.0.  You should be using at least version 5.5 of Internet Explorer.  Please contact us for an upgrade by calling the HelpDesk at #52.  We're running on the assumption that there's just a few upgrades that need to be done out there so please report this problem if it's happening to you.

3/30/2004  8:45 AM:   A new version of SB2000 Classroom will be installed late this afternoon for use on Wednesday morning.  A couple features needed to be  re-engineered so they would work on MAC computers with Internet Explorer.  The Possible Non-Reported Absence feature (see note on 3/18/04) will now work on the MAC.  The lockup condition experienced by MAC users after extensive viewing of student personal information has been fixed as well.  The latter was accomplished my replacing the "Student Info" pull-down menu item in the title bar with a list box labeled "Please Select View" located directly below the old menu item.     Reminder:  See note dated 3/9/2004!

3/29/2004  9:15 AM:   Due to an erroneous server setting some classes are not showing in the My Sections screen this morning.  The missing classes are the 3rd quarter classes (aide and PE classes) and they should appear again around 10 AM.  You may have to log off, then on again to see them. You may take attendance in those sections as soon as you see them.

3/18/2004  1:35 PM:   It's been reported that the submit function of the new Possible Non-Reported Absence online feature does not work with MAC computers.  We'll try to get this operational ASAP.  If there are any MACs out there where the feature IS working please click here to report it or call #52.

3/15/2004  10:25 AM:   On Wednesday, March 17th, the Reminders feature of SB2000 Classroom will be activated for all schools.  This is the online version of the daily Possible Non-Reported Absences Report.  The daily report will not be printed for teachers who've turned off their scanner sheets.  Teachers taking attendance online can easily use this feature to verify a student's attendance on a day when all other teachers marked the student absent.  The Reminders section is mentioned on the last page of the Online Help SB2000 Classroom instructions.  If the "Reminder" section says you have X number of uncleared possible non-reported absences, simply click on the number and you'll be taken to the screen where they can be cleared one way or the other.

3/9/2004  12:15 PM:   VERY IMPORTANT FOR THOSE TAKING ATTENDANCE ONLINE!!!
Sometime between now and April 2, 2004, logon to SB2000 Classroom and advance the calendar on the
My Sections screen to April 5, 2004.  The Print Scan flag needs to be set for each quarter.  Click on the
No Scans button so scanner sheets will not be delivered to you April 5th, the first day of the 4th quarter.  If you are reading this message after April 5th  and received scanner sheets, we'd prefer you take attendance online and return the scanner sheets unbubbled.

3/4/2004  8:20 AM:
We're looking into a recent report that since the second semester started, it takes about 20 seconds for a class roster to display after clicking on the period number.  The roster appears quickly when you click on the section number.  THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED ON FRIDAY, MARCH 5, 2004.

2/10/2004  4:35 PM:
The SB2000 Classroom instructions file has been converted to an Adobe Acrobat PDF file to reduce scrolling as its viewed online and to provide a printer friendly version of the instructions.

1/29/2004  11:40 AM:     VERY IMPORTANT FOR THOSE TAKING ATTENDANCE ONLINE!!!
Before leaving Friday, logon to SB2000 Classroom and advance the calendar on the My Sections screen to February 3rd.  The Print Scan flag needs to be set for each quarter.  Click on the No Scans button so scanner sheets will not be delivered to you February 3rd.  If you are reading this message after the fact  and received scanner sheets, we'd prefer you take attendance online and return the scanner sheets unbubbled.

12/19/2003  7:35 AM:     If you think something might be wrong with your sections or the attendance system, use your browser's print button to print the screen in question to help document the problem and report the incident immediately.  Waiting a couple weeks to report discrepancies makes for more difficult problem solving!   Have a great Winter Break!!!

12/12/2003  8:35 AM:     We forgot to mention that when the new version went live on 12/9, another change was made besides the addition of the calendar to the My Sections screen.  An "Options" link was added to the My Sections screen and the sort sequence selection was moved there to make room for the new calendar.  This new Options screen will be used in the future as new options are added to the system.  The online help pages have been changed to reflect this change.

12/9/2003  4:15 PM:     The Attendance Audit section of the Teacher Verification report will no longer tell you that you haven't taken attendance in sections that don't currently meet (past or future quarters).

12/9/2003  8:55 AM:     Due the weekend update, training data bases were not available until 9 AM Tuesday morning.  Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

12/5/2003  3:55 PM:     The new version mentioned this morning will be installed this weekend for use with the live data bases.  The Taken/Not Taken flag problem has been fixed.  The Reminder section has not been activated in the live data base but can be seen in the test data base.  The major functional change in the new live version is the ability to switch dates at the My Sections screen.

12/5/2003  10:12 AM:     A new version of the program has been placed in the TRAINING environment so if you notice a calendar on the My Section screen, don't be confused.  We're adding a calendar there so you can easily switch between different days of the week and to address a problem with the Attendance Taken/Not Taken flags.  That problem was reported by teachers taking attendance online for two days on the same day.  All attendance has been entered correctly into the data base but the audit file indicating when a teacher submitted attendance is incorrect.  You may continue training if you like...we just wanted to notify you of why it might look different.  We're also adding a "Reminders" section to the My Sections screen that eventually may be used to replace the Possible Non-Reported Absence report.

11/21/2003  2:55 PM:     Please be sure to enter the TRAINING DATA BASE when you're training and the LIVE DATA BASE when it's for REAL!  Some of you have been training in the LIVE DATA BASE, marking students absent!  We're pretty sure that's going to be a REAL PROBLEM!!

Teacher Verification Reports are still printed daily after online attendance taking begins.

11/17/2003  2:15 PM:  FOR W.H.S.:   It's ok for W.H.S. teachers who've been trained to resume with online attendance taking.  You control the production of scanner sheets (click here to see how) so turn them off if you're switching back.  I'd suggest waiting one more day before you do that.  It won't hurt to have the scanners there just in case.  You may take attendance online and turn the scanners in unbubbled if you don't need them.  Please report any problems through the new mail link above under the face.

11/06/2003  4:50 PM:  FOR W.H.S.:   Information Services turned on all scanner sheets due to an anomaly we're investigating.  We suggest you all use the scanner sheets until further notice.  Check back here this afternoon.

11/04/2003  12:15 PM:  The first attempt at the new Teacher Verification reports with the online audit trail on the last page went haywire this morning (W.H.S. and V.V.H.S. only).  The problem has been resolved so tomorrow's reports should be accurate.  You may disregard the ones dated 11/3/2003.

10/31/2003  11 AM:  A starter group of WHS teachers will be going LIVE with online attendance Monday morning.  Please be sure to click on the live link for WHS above instead of the training link!

10/24/2003  11 AM:  The log on page will no longer time out so it's ok to stay on that page after logging out of one period and before logging on for the next period.

10/14/2003  9 AM:  This afternoon a new version of SB2000 Classroom will be installed.  New features include notification of new students who've entered your class (their names will be purple), the addition of absence and tardy counts to the My Students and Class List pages and sorting columns on the My Students page (click on the column heading to sort by the data in that column).

10/02/2003 2 PM:  Friday afternoon, Oct 3, an updated version of SB2000 Classroom will be installed.  All operations will remain the same except sections with no students will be removed from the My Sections list.

09/30/2003 10 AM:  Tuesday afternoon, Sept 30, an updated version of SB2000 Classroom will be installed.  All operations will remain the same.  It will fix the two problems mentioned below.  A "Submitted" column is being added to the "My Sections" screen to help you keep track of which classes you've already submitted attendance.

09/28/2003 9 AM:  Teacher Verification Reports:  We plan to eliminate the display of every Classroom Absent/Tardy from the "Teacher Verified Attendance" section of the report ASAP.  The Classroom Absences should be displayed until cleared in the "Un-Verified Attendance" section.

If your staff ID is not "remembered" correctly at logon time delete your IE "cookies" and try again.
To do that, click on "Tools", click on "Internet Options", click on the "Delete Cookies" button then the "OK" button.
